Fiberglass swimming pools come in two typical forms.
One: The swimming pool is a fiberglass shell built a lot like a boat in some ways a mound. Then the swimming pool is removed from the mound and transported by a truck and craned into position in most cases. time.
Second: Fiberglass swimming pool is a Concrete shell and a fibreglass lining is applied over the concrete and coated with epoxy after the pool has had the fibreglass lining applied this type of construction can extend a pools shell life by about 20 years.
Osmosis/bubbles:
Over the years the swimming pools shell can get what’s called osmosis better known as bubbles
this Is caused by water getting in-between the fiberglass’s layers and causing it to delaminate
making bubbles.
The cure for this is to grind all the bubbles out using a special process and faring the pools surfaces and filling in areas when needed.
When a swimming pool is manufactured it has a gel coat with pigmentation/color added into the resins.
This gel coat can fade in time an expose the fiberglass fibers with can lead to rapid damage to your pools surface
Second kind of fiberglass surface coating on a swimming pool.
Some concrete swimming pools have had a fiberglass lining applied to their swimming pool.
This type of fiberglass swimming pool lining can break down in much the same way the first type of fiberglass moulded swimming pool shell does.
Grinding, sanding, acid washing, pressure washing and filling in any holes or cracks, removal of osmosis/bubbles
